Haunted by grief and filled with fierce love, Hamnet by Academy Award winning writer/director Chloé Zhao reimagines Shakespeare’s heart through a family’s tragedy.
The film stars Jessie Buckley as Agnes and Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare, navigating domestic life in plague-era England.
Alongside Buckley and Mescal, the cast includes Emily Watson, Joe Alwyn, Jacobi Jupe, Jack Shalloo, and David Wilmot
Hamnet premiered at the 52nd Telluride Film Festival, then played at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People’s Choice Award. It opens in theaters in the U.S. with a limited rollout starting November 27, 2025, followed by a nationwide expansion on December 12, 2025.
