Earth, Wind, & Fire, the legendary band behind hits such as “September” and “Let’s Groove” is the subject of a currently unnamed documentary project still in production, from Academy Award and Grammy winner Questlove (Summer of Soul).
HBO Documentary Films has joined the production of the film which is expected to be release in 2026, but nothing is solidified.
The film will look at the iconic legacy of the band, and how their music still permeates the cultural zeitgeist to this day. Featuring never-before-seen archival footage and recordings, the museum that is their impact will be painted for viewers, both familiar and unfamiliar, to see.
“I’m honored to tell the story of Earth, Wind & Fire and the deep meaning behind their message and music,” says Questlove. “To grow up listening to the music is one thing but to be handed the keys to the kingdom of preserving history is another. I can’t imagine a better platform on which to share this documentary with U.S. audiences than HBO.”
