Inspired by true events. In a race against time, an ailing woman (Lucy Liu) is stricken by the discovery of her teenage son’s (Lawrence Shou) violent obsessions and must go to great lengths to protect him, and possibly others, in this portrait of a Chinese American family.

Director Eric Lin said, “By exploring an immigrant family’s struggle with mental health and the stigma surrounding it against the backdrop of American gun violence, we hope the film sparks a deeper conversation about the urgent need for connection. I also can’t wait for the world to experience the extraordinary performances of our cast, from Lawrence who shines in his first feature film, and especially from Lucy who fearlessly pours herself completely into a role unlike anything she’s ever done before.”

The Hollywood Reporter review called the film a ‘modest and heartbreaking story of domestic isolation and mental health in the Asian American community’ writing, “The film’s intimate scope — it takes place in a small California suburb over the course of a few weeks and leans into snug close-ups (cinematography by Lyle Vincent) — makes this a worthwhile portrayal of an under-discussed sliver of American life.”
