Disney+’s ‘The Beatles Anthology’ Revives the Band’s Legacy With Restored Footage and New Insights | Trailer

Disney+ is pulling back the curtain on one of music’s most influential bands with The Beatles Anthology, unveiling a newly restored and expanded version of the landmark documentary series.

The first three episodes arrive on Disney+ on November 26, with the remaining six spanning out across November 27 and 28.

Originally released in the 90s, The Beatles Anthology chronicled the Beatles’ rise and complicated, culture-shifting journey, told entirely through the voices of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Nearly three decades later, the series is returning in sharper form. The series is restored, re-edited, and expanded from eight episodes to nine for its exclusive streaming debut.

The new cut gives viewers an intimate look at the band’s evolution, from their early nights playing cramped clubs to the height of Beatlemania and the global frenzy that followed. The added ninth episode digs even deeper, featuring never before seen footage of McCartney, Harrison, and Starr from the original 1990s Anthology sessions, capturing candid conversations and moments that never made it to air.

Working alongside Apple Corps, technicians at Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post in New Zealand restored decades-old film and audio, giving the archive footage a clarity that didn’t exist in the original broadcast.

The updated series is directed by Oliver Murray (Episode Nine) and by Geoff Wonfor, Bob Smeaton, and Matt Longfellow (Episodes One through Eight). Producing credits include McCartney, Starr, Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde, and Martin R. Smith.
