‘Violent Butterflies’ and ‘E se mio padre’ Take Top Awards at 24th Rome Independent Film Festival

Violent Butterflies by Adolfo Dávila has won the Best International Feature Film at the 24th RIFF – Rome Independent Film Festival under the artistic direction of Academy Award winner Paul Haggis.

In Violent Butterflies, a graffiti artist and the singer of a punk band, meet in an atmosphere of profound social crisis and discontent.

E se mio padre (What if My Father) by Solange Tonnini won for Best Italian Feature Film with Special Mention going to the road movie 6:06 by Tekla Taidelli.

Set in the 1980s, E se mio padre follows a 12-year-old searching for the truth about her often-absent father, whose job at a mysterious import-export company seems incredibly suspicious.

6:06 tells the story of twenty-six-year-old Leo, trapped in a cycle of addiction and miserable jobs. His life changes when he meets Jo-Jo, a twenty-year-old French man who lives in a caravan and they embark on a road trip to Portugal.

Other prizes went to Eva by William Reyes for Best LGBT Feature Film, Arte Sciopero by Luca Immesi won Best Italian Documentary, and Stop Killing Our Women by Marco Venditti won Best International Documentary.
