A lifetime of love, regret, and unspoken truths come to the surface in Midwinter Break, a graceful new drama that tracks a long-married couple on a trip that forces them to reckon with their history.
The film stars Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds as Stella and Gerry, a retired couple whose winter getaway to Amsterdam stirs up dormant memories, long-buried guilt, and the fragile doubts that come with age and time.
Midwinter Break marks the feature-length directorial debut of Olivier-winning British theater director Polly Findlay, and is adapted from the novel of the same name by Bernard MacLaverty, with screenplay by Nick Payne.
It opens in U.S. theaters on February 20, 2026, via Focus Features.
