
The Tale of Silyan directed by Tamara Kotevska was crowned Best Feature Documentary at the 41st IDA Documentary Awards.
The film also won the IDA Award for Best Cinematography for Jean Dakar.
From the Oscar-nominated director of Honeyland, the film, set in rural Macedonia, follows struggling farmer Nikola who ends up befriending an injured white stork Silyan, after his daughter and wife move to Germany in search of a better life.
Brittany Shyne won Best Director for her film Seeds, that captures multiple generations of Black farming families in Thomas County, Georgia.
Kevin Macdonald’s One to One: John & Yoko, an inside look at John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s life in Greenwich Village in the early 1970s, won Best Music Documentary.
No Other Land won Best Feature Documentary at last year’s IDA Awards, and went on to win Best Feature Documentary at the Academy Awards.
