A24 revealed the first look – teaser trailer for The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a soon-to-be-wed couple, whose relationship is meant to culminate in bliss, only for that idyll to crack wide open under pressure and secrets.
Also starring in the film are Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates.
Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, The Drama opens in theaters on April 3, 2026.
The official synopsis for The Drama reads: “A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.”
While the filmmakers have remained tight-lipped about major plot details (including the core twist), the intensity behind the scenes has already spilled over into real-world reactions. Actor Robert Pattinson revealed that one scene was giving him such grief that he spent days overanalyzing the dialog, only for Zendaya to calmly tell him the line should be taken at face value. “I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis,” he said. “I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene … and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning.”
