
Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ won four awards including best film of the year, at the Boston Society of Film Critics 46th annual end of year awards.
Performance awards including Best Actress went to Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Ethan Hawke won Best Actor for Blue Moon, Stellan Skarsgård won Best Supporting Actor for Sentimental Value, Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons; and Best Ensemble went to Marty Supreme.
Other awards went to Sentimental Value for Best Non-English Language Film, Afternoons of Solitude by Albert Serra won Best Documentary, Endless Cookie won Best Animated Film, Best New Filmmaker went to Eva Victor for Sorry, Baby.
This year’s meeting was dedicated to filmmaker David Lynch, who died last January. The director behind “Blue Velvet,” “Mulholland Drive” and “Twin Peaks” had ties to Boston, where he studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and roomed with Peter Wolf, frontman of the J. Geils Band.

Best Documentary (awarded in honor of Lucia Small): “Afternoons of Solitude,” Albert Serra
Best New Filmmaker (awarded in honor of David Brudnoy): “Sorry, Baby,” Eva Victor
Best Original Screenplay: “Blue Moon,” Robert Kaplow
Best Adapted Screenplay: “One Battle After Another,” Paul Thomas Anderson, based on the novel “Vineland” by Thomas Pynchon.
Best Non-English Language Film (awarded in honor of Jay Carr): “Sentimental Value”
Best Supporting Actress: Amy Madigan, “Weapons”
Best Supporting Actor: Stellan Skarsgård, “Sentimental Value”
Best Actress: Rose Byrne, “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”
