‘The Death of Robin Hood’ Trailer – Hugh Jackman Stars as the English Folk Hero in Gritty Take

A24 debuted the official trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, the gritty drama starring Hugh Jackman in a more introspective take on the classic English folk hero.

It was reportedly shot entirely on 35mm film to emphasize texture and realism with primary photography done in Northern Ireland.

Joining Hugh Jackman in the film are Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.

Directed and written by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One) The Death of Robin Hood is slated for a U.S. theatrical release in 2026 via A24.

The Death of Robin Hood envisions the legendary outlaw in the twilight of his life, no longer the youthful renegade of lore but a battle-scarred warrior grappling with the brutal legacy of his past.

Gravely injured after what he assumed would be his final fight, Robin Hood (Hugh Jackman) is left in the care of a mysterious woman — portrayed by Jodie Comer in a role that Sarnoski has confirmed is not Maid Marian yet pivotal to revealing new emotional depth. Surrounded by former comrades and new faces alike, including Skarsgård’s version of Little John, the film explores the man behind the myth, questioning whether the hero people remember was ever truly noble or merely a product of storytelling.

Here is A24’s official synopsis: Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.
