
Sundays (Los domingos) by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa lead the nominations for the Goya awards with 13 nominations, followed by Sirāt by Oliver Laxe with 11.
Sundays follows a teenage woman pondering about the possibility of joining a cloistered convent, causing a rift in her family. It world premiered at the 73rd San Sebastián International Film Festival where it won the Golden Shell.
Sirāt follows a father in search of his missing daughter, along with his son and a group of ravers in the deserts of southern Morocco. It world premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize.
Sundays and Sirāt are nominated for Best Picture along with The Dinner, Maspalomas, and Deaf.
The Goya awards will be presented on February 28 in Barcelona.
