Directed by Eugene Yi (Sundance’s Free Chol Soo Lee), it made its premiere at the Tribeca Festival 2025, where it won an Audience Prize, followed by its international premiere at the Busan International Film Festival.

It is now set for release worldwide, including the USA, Mexico, Korea, and Germany, on February 14, 2026, with other countries to follow.

“This film captures our story beyond the stage. From the very beginning in 2017 to where we stand today, it captures the moments, struggles, and growth that have shaped who we are,” states band member Kim “Sammy” WooSung. “We’ve shared this road with our Black Roses for years, and now, thanks to CJ 4DPLEX, we’re grateful to invite audiences everywhere to experience that story together on the big screen.”

“I’ve always been drawn to Korean rock music, but The Rose’s story is so much more,” exclaims director Eugene Yi. “It’s not easy to make it as a rock band anywhere these days, but their faith in their music and their faith in each other took them from the streets of Seoul to the Outdoor Stage at Coachella. Their journey, their candor, their message—and of course, their music—all make this the kind of film I’ve wanted to see for a long time. It was an absolute privilege to direct it, and I can’t wait to share it with fans and moviegoers around the world.”

The Rose: Come Back to Me is produced by Diane Quon (Oscar-nominated Minding the Gap), Marginal MediaWorks’ Sanjay M. Sharma and Milan Chakraborty (Tribeca Jury Prize winner Cypher), HYBE America’s James Shin and Wavelength’s Joe Plummer (award-winning Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Rather).

“We fell in love with The Rose years ago, just as they were embarking on a new world tour,” said producers Diane Quon and Sanjay Sharma. “The band’s music, ironically, was breaking out around the world more so than even in Korea. But more importantly, the band’s message of ‘music as healing’ and learning their inner stories and struggles gave us a unique window into what felt like a coming-of-age movie that transcended music altogether. We’re thrilled to partner with CJ 4DPLEX to take this special story that audiences from Tribeca to Busan have loved, out to the world and as a gift to their fans, old and new.”
