‘Christy’ Leads Film Nominations for Irish Film & Television Academy IFTA Awards

Christy leads the nominations in the Film categories of the Irish Film & Television Academy for the 2026 IFTA Awards, with 14 nominations, including Best Film and Director for Brendan Canty.

Saipan followed with 12 nominations, including two Lead Actor nominations for Éanna Hardwicke and Steve Coogan, along with nods for Northern Irish directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn.

Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon which was filmed in Ireland as a stand-in for mid-century Manhattan, received 8 nominations, including a Supporting Actor nomination for Andrew Scott, plus nominations for Ethan Hawke and Margaret Qualley in the International categories.

Four Mothers from filmmaking brothers Darren and Colin Thornton’s received 7 nominations, and Irish-language Aontas nabbed 6 nominations.

Award winners will be announced at the 23rd anniversary IFTA Awards Ceremony taking place on Friday, February 20th, 2026 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, hosted for the second year running by comedian, actor and broadcaster Kevin McGahern.
