‘Obsession’ Teaser – Michael Johnston Stars in Curry Barker’s Supernatural Thriller

Here is a teaser trailer for Obsession, the dark, twisted horror film written and directed by Curry Barker.

The supernatural horror film stars Michael Johnston as a music store employee whose longing for his childhood friend spirals into something deeply unnerving after he obtains a mysterious item that promises to grant wishes.

The cast also includes Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter.

Obsession premiered in the Midnight Madness program at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and is set to be released in US theaters on May 15, 2026, via Focus Features.

Here’s the official synopsis of Obsession: After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.

Director Curry Barker has spoken about the themes behind the chilling tale, saying, “I think that when you’re dealing with a movie that has to do with forcing someone to love you, yeah, it’s inevitable. The whole movie is kind of about consent—in the sense of controlling someone to love you, the premise itself, right? And really showing Bear is not necessarily a good guy.”
