A24 shared the teaser trailer for Backrooms, offering a chilling first look at the big-screen adaptation of the internet phenomenon.
Directed by Kane Parsons, the 20-year-old filmmaker behind the viral Backrooms YouTube series, the film transforms the eerie myth into a full-length sci-fi horror experience filled with liminal spaces, blank corridors, and distorted environments.
Starring in the horror film are Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, and Avan Jogia.
It is set to be released in the United States on May 29, 2026, via A24.

Here’s the official synopsis for Backrooms: A strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom.
What makes Backrooms especially intriguing is its director. Kane Parsons began his creative journey on YouTube, building the Backrooms concept from short, found-footage horror clips. A24 officially announced the project in February 2023, establishing Parsons as the youngest director in A24 history.
