‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’ Teaser Trailer – MUBI Offers a Glimpse into Jane Schoenbrun’s Surrealist Slasher

MUBI has dropped the widely-anticipated official teaser for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the forthcoming film of Jane Schoenbrun, the directorial force behind the 2024 surrealist cult favorite I Saw the TV Glow.

The film, which opens in US theaters on August 7, 2026, is led by Emmy award-winning actress Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, Sex Education, Scoop).

The cast also includes Saturday Night Live’s Sarah Sherman, Zack Cherry (Severance, Fallout), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Yellowjackets, Scream), Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Kevin McDonald, Quintessa Swindell, and Jack Haven.

Marking Schoenbrun’s third feature-length film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma continues a body of work shaped by themes of trans identity and queer horror. Their previous film, I Saw the TV Glow, received multiple nominations at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Director, Best Lead Performance, and Best Feature.

Written and directed by Schoenbrun and produced by Plan B, the official synopsis hints at the film bringing new life to the classic slasher horror genre: “After years of slapdash sequels and waning fandom, the Camp Miasma slasher franchise is handed over to an enthusiastic young director for resurrection. But when she visits the original movie’s star, a now-reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.”
