Goya Awards – ‘Sundays’ Wins Best Picture, ‘Sirât’ Nabs 6 Awards

The family drama Sundays (Los Domingos) emerged as the top film at Spain’s Goya Awards, winning five awards, including Best Picture.

The film also won Director, along with Original Screenplay for Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, Leading Actress for Patricia López Arnaiz, and Supporting Actress for Nagore Aranburu.

Oliver Laxe’s Sirât, Spain’s Oscar entry, dominated the night overall, winning six awards for Original Music, Production Design, Cinematography, Editing, Art Direction, and Sound.

Albert Serra’s Afternoons of Solitude (Tardes de soledad) captured the Goya for Documentary, Dolores Fonzi’s Belén picked up the award for Ibero-American film, Sentimental Value (Affeksjonsverdi) by Joachim Trier won for European Film, and Alberto Vázquez’s Decorado won for Animated Feature.
