Scared to Death, the irreverent, high-voltage, and star-studded new horror-comedy from award-winning director Paul Boyd, is now playing in theaters nationwide in a Friday the 13th release.
Boyd, known for his work on music videos for artists including Shania Twain, Lenny Kravitz, and Celine Dion, leaps into the horror genre with a cast of horror legends like Bill Moseley (Rob Zombie’s Firefly Trilogy, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) and Lin Shaye (the Insidious franchise).

In Scared to Death, a group of filmmakers attends a séance at an abandoned children’s orphanage to do research for a horror movie. Soon, supernatural events begin to manifest in both horrific and darkly comical fashion. That’s their first mistake…
The film taps into classic haunted-house genre traditions while embracing a contemporary edge, creating a theatrical experience that invites audiences to jump, laugh, and react together.
In addition to horror icons Moseley and Shaye, the film’s eclectic, high-profile ensemble includes Victoria Konefal (Days of Our Lives), Rae Dawn Chong (Quest for Fire, The Color Purple, Choose Me), Olivier Paris (The Wrong Tutor), B.J. Minor (Grey’s Anatomy), Jade Chynoweth (The Last Ship), Lucinda Jenney (Practical Magic), and rock frontman Kurt Deimer in a breakout performance as the scene-stealing, in-universe movie star, The Grog.
Anchored by AMC Theaters, Scared to Death’s March 13 release will hit theaters in the Top 10 U.S. markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Atlanta, Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, D.C. – as well as dozens of additional major cities nationwide.
