A Chinese American cam girl searching for connection finds her carefully constructed online persona colliding with the realities of family, intimacy, and emotional vulnerability in Bunnylovr, the bold feature debut from writer, director, and star Katarina Zhu.
Zhu’s intimate indie drama explores loneliness and digital identity through the story of Rebecca, a cam performer navigating complicated relationships with both her online clients and the people in her real life.
Zhu leads the cast alongside Rachel Sennott, Austin Amelio, Perry Yung, and Jack Kilmer.
Bunnylovr premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, and is set to open in theaters across the United States beginning April 10, 2026.

In the film, a drifting, Chinese-American cam girl struggles to navigate an increasingly toxic relationship with one of her clients while rekindling her relationship with her estranged father.”
As Rebecca’s digital life becomes entangled with her personal struggles, the film explores the emotional complexities of online intimacy and the ways in which people search for validation, safety, and belonging in unexpected places.
Writing about the Sundance premiere, critic Robert Daniels noted that the film is anchored by Zhu’s portrayal of Rebecca, a character navigating a complicated web of relationships and emotional uncertainty. In his review, Daniels noted, “Zhu’s compassionate but meandering film, the latter being somewhat intended, is mostly guided by Rebecca’s ennui. We’re never quite sure if she has any dreams, and she mostly drifts from one toxic space to another.”
