A rebellious crew of shoplifters target the fashion elite in I Love Boosters, the bold, genre-bending heist comedy from Boots Riley.
Led by Keke Palmer and featuring a powerhouse ensemble that includes Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, LaKeith Stanfield, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore, the film blends satire, surrealism, and style.
I Love Boosters world premiered as the opening night selection at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, and is also set to open the Seattle International Film Festival. Following its strong festival debut, I Love Boosters is scheduled to open in theaters across the United States on May 22, 2026 via Neon.
According to the official synopsis, “a crew of professional shoplifters take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. It’s like community service.”
Following the premiere at SXSW, critics highlight the film’s distinctive voice and cultural bite. Rolling Stone describes it as “an ode to crime and the class struggle,” emphasizing its blend of humor and defiance. The review noted, “The mix of academic-level intellectualism and gross-out outrageousness fits the mood Riley wants to conjure. This may be the only movie you see this year that name-drops dialectical materialism and showcases a demon who’s an expert at cunnilingus.”
