Cannes Film Festival is set to welcome back John Travolta to the Croisette with a milestone moment in his career, the world premiere of his directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
The film has been selected for the Cannes Premiere section and will debut at the Debussy Theater within the Palais des Festivals, with Travolta in attendance.
Best known to Cannes audiences for his unforgettable turn as Vince Vega in Pulp Fiction, Travolta’s latest appearance marks a full-circle evolution, from actor to filmmaker.
Produced by Apple Original Films, the project is a deeply personal one, adapted from a book that Travolta originally published in 1997. The story reflects a lifelong fascination with aviation that has defined much of his life beyond the screen.
Fascinated by airplanes since childhood, he began flying at just 15 and earned his pilot’s license by 22. Over the years, he has accumulated more than 9,000 flight hours and is certified to operate aircraft ranging from Boeing 707s and 747s to the Airbus A380. This dual passion for storytelling and flight forms the backbone of Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
The film itself is a nostalgic coming-of-age journey set during the golden age of aviation. It follows young airplane enthusiast Jeff, played by newcomer Clark Shotwell, who embarks on a cross-country journey to Hollywood with his mother, portrayed by Kelly Eviston-Quinnett. What begins as a simple trip evolves into a transformative adventure filled with colorful passengers, unexpected layovers, and moments of wonder. Along the way, Jeff encounters charming flight attendants, played by Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann, and experiences the magic of air travel in an era defined by elegance and discovery.
Following its Cannes premiere, Propeller One-Way Night Coach will debut globally on Apple TV+ on May 29, 2026.
The 79th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 12 to 23, 2026
