A wealthy, deeply dysfunctional family unravels under the weight of grief, privilege, and buried secrets in Rosebush Pruning, a provocative satirical drama from director Karim Aïnouz.
Starring in the movie are Callum Turner, Riley Keough, Elle Fanning, Jamie Bell, Tracy Letts, and Pamela Anderson.
Rosebush Pruning made its world premiere in competition at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival, and is expected to arrive in U.S. theaters later in 2026 via Mubi, following its European release beginning April 23.
A satirical black comedy set in the Spanish countryside, the film follows an affluent American family living in isolation after the death of their matriarch.

In an opulent villa underneath the Catalonian sun, American siblings Jack, Ed, Anna and Robert wallow in isolation and their inherited fortune, eschewing the demands of their blind father, and seeking love and validation through each other and their latest designer clothes. When Jack, the eldest brother and linchpin of this family, announces he is moving in with his girlfriend, Martha, blood ties are severed and Ed starts to uncover the truth surrounding their mother’s death. Generational lies begin to unravel, and the fabric of this family slowly begins to disintegrate.
In its Berlinale review, The Playlist described Rosebush Pruning as “an uneven but fun eat-the-rich satire,” praising its committed performances and stylized execution while noting its provocative edge.
The review notes, “Still, there is pleasure to be had in seeing a committed cast wrestle and savour the script’s oddness. Turner delivers an accomplished, if not particularly exceptional, performance as the story’s primary narrator, a gullible young man orbiting the madness of his kinship, with the key advantage of not sharing the whiplash-inducing penchant for drama of his more flamboyant middle siblings.”
