Frameline unveiled the full program for Frameline45 LGBTQ+ film festival taking place Thursday, June 10 through Sunday, June 27, 2021. The 17-day festival will feature a hybrid of in-person and virtual offerings, along with a series of special screenings at San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre and Roxy Theater.
The 2021 Milwaukee Film Festival which ran virtually May 6-20 with over 200 films, wrapped with the awards – with “Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America” directed by Emily Kunstler and Sarah Kunstler taking the Audience Award for Best Feature.

The animated short film, The Tattooed Torah, based on the beloved children’s book of the same name written by Marvell Ginsburg will be released by Menemsha Films. Directed by Marc Bennett and narrated by Ed Asner, the animated film is based on the renowned children’s book that has been educating young children about the Holocaust for generations.
The 21st annual New York-based New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) announced its full lineup featuring cinema from India, and the Indian Diaspora. Presented virtually for the second year in a row, the festival features 58 screenings (23 narrative features, 8 documentary features and 27 short films) from June 4-June 13.
The 20th San Francisco Documentary Film Festival (SF DocFest) will June 3 – 20, 2021 with 40 features and 38 shorts across 6 different short programs. The festival opens with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s Summer of Soul and close with Jasmine Stodel’s Kid Candidate.
The Nantucket Film Festival (NFF) has added new films including Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain by past NFF honoree Morgan Neville to the upcoming 26th annual edition, taking place June 17-28.
RiverRun International Film Festival announced the Jury Awards for the 2021 Festival with Best Film going to Fires in the Dark directed by Dominique Lienhard and Best Documentary Feature going to Sapelo directed by Nick Brandestini. In addition to Best Film, Fires in the Dark also won Best Director along with Best Screenplay for Dominique Lienhard and Best Cinematography for Philippe Kress.

Director Steven Soderbergh’s highly anticipated crime drama No Sudden Move will world premiere as the Centerpiece Gala selection for the Tribeca Festival’s 20th anniversary. The outdoor premiere of the film will take place at The Battery in New York City on Friday, June 18 as part of Tribeca’s 12-day celebration to re-open New York and bring live entertainment back.
AFI DOCS, the American Film Institute’s documentary film festival will honor filmmaker Dawn Porter as the 2021 Charles Guggenheim Symposium honoree.
