Well Go USA released the official trailer for New Orleans-set heist heist thriller film Cut Throat City, directed by Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA (The Man with the Iron Fists, Love Beats Rhymes) which will world premiere at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival. In the film, four friends return to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and receive no help from FEMA. Out of options, they reluctantly turn to a local gangster. The star studded cast include Shameik Moore, Demetrius Shipp Jr., Denzel Whitaker, Keean Johnson, Ethan Hawke, Eiza Gonzalez, Kat Graham, Isaiah Washington, T.I., Terrence Howard, and Wesley Snipes. Cut Throat City opens in theaters on April 10th, 2020.

Cinedigm released a new trailer for the 70s coming-of-age indie drama, Tuscaloosa by veteran music video director Philip Harder. The film set in Alabama in 1972, stars Devon Bostick (Okja), Natalia Dyer (“Stranger Things”), Marchánt Davis (The Day Shall Come), Tate Donovan (Rocketman), and Def Jam hip hop artist YG (White Boy Rick). Tuscaloosa premiered at the Nashville Film Festival in October, and will be released in theaters, on digital, and on demand on March 13, 2020.

The Athena Film Festival (AFF) at Barnard College announced honorees, additional films; and the 2020 winners and finalists of the Athena List for the 10th anniversary of the festival taking place from Thursday, February 27, through Sunday, March 1, at Barnard College in New York City.

Bong Joon Ho’s darkcomedy Parasite came out on top at the 40th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, winning Film of the Year and Director of the Year for Bong. The Souvenir, Joanna Hogg’s bittersweet 1980s memoir was named British/Irish Film of the Year and its 22-year-old leading lady Honor Swinton Byrne received the Young British/Irish Performer award.

Princess of the Row by award winning filmmaker Maximilian Carlson will open the eighth edition of the Toronto Black Film Festival – TBFF on Wednesday, February 12 – 7PM at Isabel Bader Theatre. In 2019, Princess of the Row won 19 awards at 20 film festivals: 4 Audience Choice, 5 Best Feature, 6 Best Actress (Tayler Buck), 3 Best Actor (Edi Gathegi) and 1 Best Cinematography (Maz Makhani). The festival will close with the documentary Restless directed by Bernard Attal.

IFC Films released a new trailer for the provocative psychological indie thriller Swallow, starring Haley Bennett as pregnant housewife Hunter who suddenly develops a case of pica – a psychological disorder involving the desire to consume inedible objects. The film from writer/director Carlo Mirabella-Davis (The Swell Season), and starring Austin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche, Luna Lauren Velez, Zabryna Guevara, along with Denis O’Hare premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. Swallow will be released in select theaters on March 13th, 2020.

IFC Films released the official trailer for the thriller Disappearance at Clifton Hill (formerly Clifton Hill), directed by Albert Shin (IN HER PLACE) which had its World Premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. The film will open in theaters on February 28th, 2020.
