Giant Pictures acquired worldwide Digital and VOD rights to Lisa Binn’s feature documentary Do Something: The Jeffrey Modell Story and plans a worldwide June 11, 2019 release.

Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound, a new documentary film that reveals the hidden power of sound in cinema, will World Premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival on Monday, April 29. Following the screening, the festival will present a special Tribeca Talks Master Class, “The Art of Cinematic Sound,” with director Midge Costin and Oscar-winning sound designers Walter Murch, Ben Burtt and Gary Rydstrom who are featured in the film.

Inland (Tierra adentro) by Mauro Colombo won the Yellow Robin Award at the 8th edition of Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam CIFFR, IFFR’s sister festival in Curaçao. The Caribbean Shorts Award went to The Girl with Two Heads by Betzabé García.

The Third Wife, directed by Ash Mayfair, won the Narrative Feature Jury Prize; and American Factory, directed by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert, won the Documentary Feature Jury Prize at the 21st annual Sarasota Film Festival which came to a close on Sunday, April 14. The Independent Visions Jury Prize went to The World Is Full of Secrets, directed by Graham Swon.

The late Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti is the subject of the new documentary Pavarotti directed by Academy Award winner Ron Howard, opening in select theaters on June 7, 2019. Pavarotti released the movie trailer offering the first look at the upcoming film.

Jawline, winner of the Sundance Special Jury Award for Emerging Filmmaker, will open the 2019 CineYouth on Friday, April 26. Directed by Liza Mandelup, Jawline follows 16-year-old Austyn Tester, a rising star in the live-broadcast ecosystem who built his following on wide-eyed optimism and teen girl lust, as he tries to escape a dead-end life in rural Tennessee.

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) in New York City announced the winners of the Golden Apple Awards for the 16th annual event with Bobo Jelčić ’s ALL ALONE winning the BHFF 2019 Golden Apple Jury Award for Best Feature; and Bojan Bodruzić’s THE MUSEUM OF FORGOTTEN TRIUMPHS won the BHFF 2019 Golden Apple Jury Award for Best Documentary. Marta Hernaiz Pidal’s THE CHAOTIC LIFE OF NADA KADIĆ won the BHFF 2019 Golden Apple Audience Award for Best Picture.
