The 6th edition of the Sicilian Film Festival (SFF) of Miami Beach closed Wednesday, April 13, 2011 with the traditional dinner held at ‘Villa Viscuso’ – Miami Beach residence of Emanuele Viscuso, SFF President. The 13th Annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (MGLFF) returns to Miami-Dade County, Florida beginning April 21-May 1, 2011. The festival will feature more than 50 feature and short films from 15 countries with multiple screenings at the Colony Theater, Regal Cinemas South Beach, and Coral Gables Art Cinema.

The Jury Award for Best Feature Film went to “Polish Bar” from director Ben Berkowitz. “Polish Bar” star Judd Hirsch also won the prize for Best Actor. “Espera un Milagro,” a documentary from Spanish director Gemma Ventura also won two prizes for Best Director and Best Foreign Film.
The 13th Wisconsin Film Festival wrapped five days of screening 211 movies, presenting more than 120 filmmakers and special guests at the nine downtown Madison and campus theaters that opened their doors to 35,858 audience members.
The ninth annual Garden State Film Festival, announced its 2011 winners at its awards dinner Sunday. “Expecting Mary” was a big winner taking home both the Audience Choice award and the Bud Abbott Award for Feature-Length Comedy. The comedy-drama film directed by Dan Gordon and starring Elliott Gould and Linda Gray, tells the story of a pregnant young Mary, who has had all the trappings of an upscale life, but it’s only when she finds herself in a small New Mexico town, in a down-trodden trailer park, that she learns the real meaning of love, sacrifice and family.
