Ramona Diaz’s A Thousand Cuts and Garrett Bradley’s Time tied for Best Documentary; and Fernanda Valadez’s Identifying Features won for Best International Feature.

The Oklahoma Film Critics Circle today announced the winners of the 2020 awards, with Minari named Best Picture along with receiving Best Supporting Actress honors for Yuh-Jung Youn. Nomadland received multiple honors including Best Actress for Frances McDormand along with Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Chloé Zhao.

Inconvenient Indian, directed by Michelle Latimer The National Film Board of Canada withdrew Michelle Latimer’s documentary Inconvenient Indian from active distribution and all upcoming festivals, including the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. The withdrawal comes after questions were raised about filmmaker Latimer’s claims about her Indigenous identity.

Steve McQueen’s “Small Axe” The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) today named “Small Axe” Steve McQueen’s anthology series, as Best Picture of the Year. Small Axe is an anthology series comprised of five original films set from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s that tell personal stories from London’s West Indian community, whose lives have been shaped by their own force of will despite rampant racism and discrimination. The title is derived from the African proverb, “If you are the big tree, we are the small axe.”
