Emmy and Academy Award winner Terry Sanders’ Liza, Liza, Skies Are Grey stars Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood), Madeline Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle), and Sean H. Scully (The Last Champion). Set in 1960s California, this romantic story combines elements of Romeo & Juliet and The Odyssey, that captures the innocence and overwhelming emotion that is first love.

It’s been almost 90 years since the first drive-in movie theater opened in New Jersey in 1933, and thanks to the coronavirus, they are making a trendy comeback. During this time, festivals have had to find creative ways to showcase films, many opting for virtual cinemas and online screenings. The drive-in experience allows film-lovers and movie-goers to indulge in the community-shared experience that cinemas provide while also social distancing and staying safe. Cine Las Americas CLA2020 Virtual Showcase premieres this weekend, July 16-19, with a consecutive showcase July 23-26. The virtual event will present 49 films hailing from 12 different countries and will feature the work of over 30 female directors, Indigenous, POC, and LGBTQ+ filmmakers.

A 2020 Tribeca Film Festival Official Selection, Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful, a portrait of the trailblazing art and fashion photographer, will open in virtual cinemas on July 24th.

Earlier this month, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) announced MIFF 68 1⁄2 – a reimagined celebration of film online, following the cancellation of MIFF 2020. The fully-curated program will showcase over 100 films including 12 world premieres, Australian premieres, shorts, Q&As, special events, and more. MIFF 68 1⁄2 will be available to stream in Australia August 6-23.
