Santa Fe Independent Film Festival revealed the list of the 28 feature films in the competition section of the 12th edition taking place October 14th-18th, 2020. The festival will be screen as Drive-In films at Motorama at the Downs, as well as via online screening platform.

ESPN Films is in production on an upcoming documentary centered on the recent story that made waves across the country about WNBA superstar Maya Moore. The untitled documentary film will explore Moore’s unwavering faith; her connection with Jonathan Irons, a man wrongfully convicted and serving a prison sentence for burglary and assault; and how she stepped away from basketball to pursue justice both to prove his innocence and inspire activism in others during this watershed moment. The announcement comes after the couple’s appearance on “Good Morning America” this morning where they also announced that they fell in love in the process of working together to get Irons’ sentence overturned and have since married.
NewFest, the New York LGBTQ Film Festival will open this year with the NYC premiere of Francis Lee’s much anticipated film Ammonite, starring Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan. Winslet will also present Lee with the festival’s inaugural World Queer Visionary Award ahead of the special drive-in screening, taking place at the Queens Drive-In at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Netflix released the trailer for the documentary film Dick Johnson Is Dead directed by Kirsten Johnson that premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Award for Innovation in Non-fiction Storytelling. The film will debut on Netflix on October 2, 2020.
