This week the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival announced KVIFF 54 1⁄2, a special four-day event that will be held this November in lieu of this year’s postponed program.

The Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase screens works that were shot in the St. Louis region or were written, directed, or produced by St. Louis-area residents or by filmmakers with strong local ties who are now working elsewhere. Because of the Covid-19 health crisis, the Showcase will be presented virtually in 2020.

America’s Last Little Italy: The Hill will debut online July 10th through 19th aspart of the 20th annual St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase. This historical documentary traces the roots of the venerable St. Louis neighborhood known as “The Hill.”

Cosmic horror film The Beach House unleashed the new trailer ahead of the July 9th release on AMC’s Shudder. The indie sci-fi/horror from Jeffrey A. The 2020 edition of the Galway Film Fleadh in Galway, Ireland, will take place entirely online showcasing some forty new features and ten new short film programs, bursting with moving, funny, provocative and powerful storytelling from both emerging and established filmmakers.

In a statement released today, Tabitha Jackson, the new director of Sundance Film Festival revealed the approach for the 2021 festival in the new normal of the coronavirus pandemic. The Festival is pursuing what is being described as a grand partnership of communities – it will take place live in Utah and in at least 20 independent and community cinemas across the U.S. and beyond with an online home at the center of all the planning.
