AFI FEST 2025 revealed the winners of the Grand Jury Prize winners for Live Action Short, Documentary Short and Animated Short, now eligible for consideration in the 2026 Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short, Best Documentary Short and Best Animated Short.
The World Premiere of the musical drama film Song Sung Blue, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson will close the 39th edition of AFI FEST taking place October 22–26, 2025.
AFI FEST 2024 announced the Grand Jury Award short film winners and Special Mentions. The Grand Jury Award winners for Live Action Short, Documentary Short and Animated Short will be eligible for the 2024 Best Live Action Short, Best Documentary Short and Best Animated Short Academy Awards.
This year’s 38th AFI FEST taking place in Los Angeles from October 23 to October 27 rounds out the slate of already announced titles with a full lineup of 158 films including September 5 directed by Tim Fehlbaum, All We Imagine As Light directed by Payal Kapadia, The Luckiest Man In America directed by Samir Oliveros (AFI Class of 2019), Zurawski V Texas from executive producers Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Jennifer Lawrence and directors Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault, and Oh, Canada directed by Paul Schrader (AFI Class of 1969).
Heretic, the psychological thriller starring Hugh Grant, and Maria, the biopic drama based on the life of opera singer Maria Callas starring Angelina Jolie, will round out the Red Carpet Premieres section at this year’s AFI Fest.
The World Premiere of Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 will close the 38th edition of AFI Fest at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre on October 27. The film stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough, Leslie Bibb and Kiefer Sutherland.
