Actor and comedian Deon Cole will return as host of the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors set to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 5, 2023. ABFF’s annual award season gala honors Black artists who have made significant contributions to the motion picture and television industry, as well as those who champion diversity and inclusion in Hollywood.

The 2022 American Black Film Festival announced the Best of the ABFF Awards winners, with Our Father, the Devil winning the jury prize for Best Narrative Feature along with the John Singleton Award – Best First Feature for director, Ellie Foumbi; and A Woman on the Outside won the jury prize for Best Documentary Feature.

The coronavirus, (COVID-19) pandemic is having a devastating impact on film festivals with many postponing or cancelling outright. Major festivals such as San Francisco International Film Festival and RiverRun International Film Festival have canceled, while others such as Richmond International Film Festival and Florida Film Festival have been postponed until the Summer or Fall.
