The One That Got Away, City of Hate: Dallas and the Assassination, 60 Years Later, Showdown on the Brazos won top award honors at the 6th Billy the Kid Film Festival in Texas.

Celebrating its 6th edition of the festival, the Hico, Texas-based outlaw-themed Billy the Kid Film Festival (BTKFF) unveiled the film lineup and events for this year’s festival taking place November 1-3, 2024. The festival is set to open with Chris Hanna’s dramatic redemption tale On the Edge of Freedom and to close with Jason Vandygriff’s thriller Blood Dried Hands. The festival will also honor celebrated Western character actor Wally Welch (Killers of the Flower Moon, The Magnificent Seven, Javelina Run) with the BTKFF lifetime achievement honor.

The Hico-based Billy the Kid Film Festival announced the films and events for the 5th edition of the film festival taking place November 3-5. The annual spotlight on outlaw-themed films, as well as Texas-shot and made productions, will be led by Daniel A. Edwards’ documentary about the film festival’s namesake, Billy the Kid: The Silver City Photo, and Oscar Torre’s provocative drama A Summer Night will be the official Closing Night selection

The Billy the Kid Film Festival (BTKFF) announced the filmmaker award winners for the fourth edition, including the honoree presentation to Dennis Moore and Pine Moore Studios, the first Pine Moore Studios Award, which went to Arik Hess’ Big Iron, and the first Ruth Buzzi Comedy Award, given to Lisa Belcher for her film Terminator: Bad Judgement Day.

Canadian filmmaker Trista Suke’s FOXY won the Best Feature Film Award at the first edition of the Texas-based Billy the Kid Film Festival. George Meyers’ NOT YOUR DAY, and Jay Pennington and Gerry Olert’s SMILE shared the Audience Choice Award.
