New films along with the first titles in the Short & Mid-length strand have been confirmed for the 52nd edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The festival also announced the names of its competition juries which will include Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz amongst the Tiger Competition jurors, and IFFR 2023 filmmaker in focus Stanya Kahn as part of the Ammodo Tiger Short Competition jury.

Sundance Film Festival unveiled the 99 feature-length films representing 23 countries at the 2023 festival set to take place January 19–29, 2023, in person in Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Resort, along with a selection of films available online across the country January 24–29, 2023.
The 34th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will screen 134 films from 64 countries, including 35 of the International Feature Film Oscar® Submissions, from January 5-16, 2023.

The French Institute Alliance Française presents the sixth edition of Animation First, the only U.S. festival dedicated to showcasing the legacy and innovation of French animation. The 2023 festival will run from Friday, January 27 through Sunday, January 29 and will present six feature-length films (including three U.S. and three NY premieres), and six short film programs with over 65 new shorts (including eight U.S. and 12 NY premieres).

Coyote directed by Katherine Jerkovic took the Borsos Award for Best Canadian Feature and Jorge Martinez Colorado, star of the film, received this year’s Best Performance in a Borsos Competition Film Award at the 22nd edition of Whistler Film Festival (WFF). The jury stated that Coyote is “a masterfully rendered film, both tragic and hopeful, about unconditional love and sacrifice. A film that holds you in poetic stillness and takes you on a genuine familial journey that resonates with you long after the film is over.”
