Director Steven Spielberg will be presented with an Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement and celebrated with the Homage at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival. During the Award Ceremony at the Berlinale Palast, the festival will screen his most recent work, The Fabelmans.
The Last Film Show (India), directed by Pan Nalin, won the Snow Leopard Award for Best Film at the eighth annual Asian World Film Festival (AWFF). Mohsen Tanabandeh garnered the Snow Leopard for Best Actor for World War III (Iran), and Hui Fang Hong was honored with the Snow Leopard for Best Actress for Ajoomma (Singapore).

The Billy the Kid Film Festival (BTKFF) announced the filmmaker award winners for the fourth edition, including the honoree presentation to Dennis Moore and Pine Moore Studios, the first Pine Moore Studios Award, which went to Arik Hess’ Big Iron, and the first Ruth Buzzi Comedy Award, given to Lisa Belcher for her film Terminator: Bad Judgement Day.
The Coronado Island Film Festival wrapped with its signature event, the Leonard Maltin Industry Awards Gala, and winners of this year’s filmmaker awards included Tom Huang’s Dealing with Dad taking the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Film, and Chris Haigh’s Song for Hope – The Ryan Anthony Story winning the Jury Prize for Best Documentary, as well as the film festival’s coveted Emerald Award, which included a cash prize of $5000.
Sundance announced the inaugural edition of Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance, an evening that kicks off the Festival by honoring inspiring and breakout storytellers whose journeys have been connected to Sundance throughout the years while raising funds and awareness for the Institute. Ryan Coogler will receive the Sundance Institute | Variety Visionary Award, the Vanguard Award for nonfiction will be presented to W. Kamau Bell and the Vanguard Award for fiction will go to Nikyatu Jusu.

Apolonia, Apolonia by Lea Glob is the winner of the IDFA Award for Best Film and the €15,000 cash prize in the International Competition at the 35th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). Spanning 13 years, the film is a fascinating portrait of a young woman trying to find her place in the art world. “This film has characters who breathe life and take us on a journey, opening us up to the worlds of culture and art, of business and politics, of the mechanics of a success story. It is infused with love. The Award for Best Film goes to Lea Glob for her film Apolonia, Apolonia,” the jury reported.
The 21st edition of Rome Independent Film Festival will take place in Rome, Italy from November 17th to the 25th, 2022 with more than 85 contemporary films in competition.
