The South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals announced the Film Festival will now be called the Film & TV Festival, to reflect the event’s long standing and deep programming of episodics in the screening program, Film & TV tracks, and Keynote and Featured Speaker sessions in the Conference.

Venice International Film Festival unveiled the selection of projects for Venice Immersive, the XR – Extended Reality section of the 79th edition of the festival. The Venice Immersive section will be held in person again this year, presenting 43 projects from 19 countries, including 30 projects in Competition, and 10 projects Out of Competition.

The 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF46) will open with two Hong Kong films – the world premiere of Philip Yung’s Where the Wind Blows, starring Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Chiu-wai, and Ng Yuen-fai’s mega-budget sci-fi blockbuster Warriors of Future, starring Sean Lau and Louis Koo.

The 2022 Indy Shorts International Film Festival (Indy Shorts) presented by Heartland Film announced its award winners. The Grand Prize for Narrative Short went to “Ousmane” directed by by Jorge Camarotti; the Grand Prize for Documentary Short went to “Stranger at the Gate” by Joshua Seftel and the Grand Prize for Animated Short went to “Black Slide” by by Uri Lotan. The Festival’s three Grand Prize-winning films will receive Academy Award® qualification in their respective categories and $5,000 in cash prizes.
The 22nd Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase, an annual presentation of the nonprofit Cinema St. Louis (CSL), serving as the area’s primary venue for films made by local artists, announced the winning films and filmmakers. The Showcase screened works that were shot in the St. Louis region or were written, directed, or produced by St. Louis-area residents or by filmmakers with strong local ties who are now working elsewhere. The Showcase’s 14 film programs ranged from narrative and documentary features to multi-film compilations of fiction, experimental, and documentary shorts.
The 37th edition of Venice International Critics’ Week (Venice Settimana Internazionale della Critica (SIC)) set to take place August 31 to September 10 alongside the Venice International Film Festival, announced the films in competition.
