Andrew Garfield will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor for his performance in tick, tick…BOOM! at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.

Director Kenneth Branagh and cast of Belfast will be honored with the Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The award is a group honor distinguishing a film’s cast and director in recognition of their collective work on an exceptional film project. The award will be presented to writer and director Kenneth Branagh and cast members Caitríona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Ciarán Hinds and Jude Hill who are all expected to attend. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.

Cameron Bailey has been named CEO of Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF) and as a veteran of TIFF, he is set to lead the organization into a new chapter with an immediate focus on building a Toronto International Film Festival for the future while offering audiences a transformative TIFF experience all year round. Bailey’s new position comes on the heels of the announcement of Jeffrey Remedios, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Canada, as TIFF’s new Chair of the Board.

The Little Saint (La Santa Piccola) by Silvia Brunelli which was this year’s pre-opening film, won the best Italian Feature Film at the XX edition of the RIFF – Rome Independent Film Festival. The film follows Mario and Lino, two inseparable friends, living day by day in the monotony of neighborhood life in Naples.. Until everything changes: Annaluce, Lino’s little sister, starts to make miracles and becomes the patron saint of the district. For both of them, the unthinkable happens, a door opens to a new world that will lead them to take different paths, risking everything, even the most important thing they have: their fraternal friendship.

Mr. Landsbergis (Lithuania, Netherlands) by Sergei Loznitsa won the IDFA Award for Best Film in the International Competition at the 34th edition of International Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). In the documentary, Lithuanian politician Vytautas Landsbergis looks back on his country’s independence struggle in this captivating masterclass on the collapse of the Soviet Union by the great chronicler Sergei Loznitsa.


Oscar and Turner Prize-winning filmmaker and artist Steve McQueen will present Sunshine State, an IFFR-commissioned installation at the 51st edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Art Directions, Cinema Regained and additional film titles further extend the festival program. IFFR 2022 will take place in Rotterdam from January 26 to February 6, 2022.

The prize winners were honored at exground filmfest 34 with People on Saturday (Menschen am Samstag) taking the award for best international short film; audience award Das Brett went to The Seed (Die Saat); Benztown won the German Short Film Competition; Boxen als Wegweiser won the audience award in Wiesbaden Special section and Sisterhood and Any Day Now won at at youth days.

The 30th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) wrapped with the awards ceremony, with films winning awards include We Are the Thousand, directed by Anita Rivaroli; Luzzu, directed by Alex Camilleri; Berrigans: Devout and Dangerous, directed by Susan Hagedorn and 200 Meters, directed by Ameen Nayfeh.

The 10th Annual Key West Film Festival announced its awards winners, with “Parallel Mothers” directed by Pedro Almodovar winning Best Narrative Film marking the first year that a non- English language film took home the prize. Best Documentary went to “Bernstein’s Wall” directed by Douglas Tirola and Best International film went to “The Hand of God” directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The KWFF Annual Critics Award went to “Red Rocket” directed by Sean Baker, with a Special Mention for “Jockey” directed by Clint Bentley

Jessica Chastain will be honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress for her performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.
