
Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) announced the complete line-up of 180+ films in the upcoming 40th edition running Thursday, May 13 through Sunday, May 23 as a hybrid festival.

The 2021 Tribeca Festival unveiled its feature film lineup of 66 films from 81 filmmakers from across 23 different countries. The line-up includes 56 world premieres, 1 international premiere, 4 North American premieres, 1 U.S. premiere, and 4 New York premieres. The Festival’s 20th anniversary edition will run June 9-20 with live in-person events at outdoor venues across all New York City boroughs.

Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) announced its 24th annual edition themed, “The Clearing.” BFF set to take place online via the festival website from June 4-13, and in-person at Windmill Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, from June 5-13. The 2021 film lineup will include 140 film premieres, which will be viewable online 24/7, for the entire 10-day period. At Windmill Studios, BFF will screen a shorter version of the lineup, to create longer intermissions, and ultimately safer festival operations.

The 47th Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) announced the winners of the 2021 Golden Space Needle and Audience Awards. There Is No Evil won the Golden Space Needle Audience Award – Best Film and Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America won the Golden Space Needle Audience Award – Best Documentary.

The musical film Annette, director Leos Carax’s first film in English, will open the Cannes 74th International Film Festival on Tuesday, July 6th.

Following its World Premiere at CPH:DOX and a North American Premiere at SFFILM Festival, Nefise Özkal Lorentzen’s documentary film SEYRAN ATEŞ: Sex, Revolution and Islam will have its Canadian premiere at Hot Docs Festival 2021.

The 45th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF45 Streams) held entirely online April 7 – 20, 2021, held its live Closing Awards Ceremony on Saturday.

2021 San Francisco International Film Festival announced the winners of the juried Golden Gate Award (GGA) competitions and the Audience Awards with the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature going to Chase Palmer for the film Naked Singularity. The Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature was a tie between director Roberto Salinas for the film Cuban Dancer and director Jeremy Workman for Lily Topples the World.

The 23rd annual Sarasota Film Festival (SFF) announced its full line-up, including its Spotlight Section, Narrative Feature Competition, Independent Visions Competition, Documentary Feature Competition, Narrative Documentary, and Short Films. The festival will take place from April 30th to May 9th with virtual and in-person events.

The 2021 Tribeca Festival will kick off its 20th anniversary on June 9th, with the world premiere of In the Heights, at the United Palace theater in Washington Heights, the very neighborhood where the vibrant story takes place. Jon M. Chu directed the screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical, created and produced by New York’s own Lin-Manuel Miranda.
