Inaugural Mr. HoleHead’s Warped Dimension is First Online Film Festival via Zoom Live-Streamed

Produced by members of the team that has brought SF IndieFest’s Another Hole in the Head (AHITH) to San Francisco for 16 years, Mr. HoleHead’s Warped Dimension is the first online film festival to be presented entirely through the Zoom app. Taking place from September 24^th through the 29^th, 2020, it will showcase Independent films from the genres of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Action/Adventure, Horror, Thriller, Dark & Off-the-Wall Comedy, Animation, and Art/Experimental–as well as Music Videos and Documentaries with related content. 13 Features and 97 Short Films will be streamed over the six days of the fest.

Venice Film Festival 2020 Winners – NOMADLAND Wins Golden Lion for Best Film

Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the 77th Venice International Film Festival. Zhao who was not able to travel to Europe for the festival, accepted remotely from Los Angeles. Zhao adapted Nomadland from journalist Jessica Bruder’s 2017 nonfiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century and follows Fern (Frances McDormand), a woman who, after the economic collapse of her company town in rural Nevada, packs her van and sets off on the road to explore a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad.

For the first time ever, this year’s 21st edition of the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival set to take place entirely online, from October 20 – 25, 2020, will open with a shorts film program. Throughout the Festival four short programs will be screened, each named after one of the four colors in the medicine wheel. For the Opening Gala on Tuesday, October 20, imagineNATIVE begins in the YELLOW quadrant and will feature a gathering of international short films, standing together. The short program YELLOW is composed of works created by artists from seven different nations: Êmîcêtôsêt: Many bloodlines by Theola Ross (Cree); Between Two Lines by Jack Steele (Wiradjuri); Te Wao Nui byNgariki Ngatae (Māori); Nuxalk Radio by Banchi Hanuse (Nuxalk); Audrey’s Story by Michelle Derosier (Anishinaabe); Kapaemahu by Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu (Kanaka Maoli); and The Fourfold by Alisi Telengut (Mongolian, Telengut). The fluidity of the works in YELLOW speaks to the artful nuance of Indigenous Cinema.
