Due to the continuing global coronavirus crisis, and uncertainty over the reopening of cinemas in Mumbai, the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) has pushed the 22nd Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival to 2021. The festival will, however, be releasing its official selection of Indian films for the year later in August.
Eleven films from Brazil, China, France, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Russia, the United Kingdom and Vietnam will compete for the Kutxabank-New Directors Award at the 68th San Sebastian Festival, taking place from September 18 to 26.

Steve McQueen’s Lovers Rock will make its World Premiere as the Opening Night film of the 58th New York Film Festival. Lovers Rock is part of the Small Axe anthology, which comprises five original films by Academy Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen (Hunger, 12 Years A Slave), which will premiere on BBC One later this year and air on Amazon Prime Video in the US.
New films directed by Pedro Almodóvar and Academy Award winner Regina King have been added to the lineup in Out of Competition of the 77th Venice International Film Festival scheduled to take place from September 2 to 12 2020.
The 2020 drive-in edition of the Sidewalk Film Festival added ten new titles to the lineup taking place August 24-30 in Leeds, Alabama. The festival is providing this year’s attendees with a safe option to view more than ten features and short films.

Mexican director, writer and producer Michel Franco will be awarded the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 26th Sarajevo Film Festival, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cinematic art as well as for his support of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Franco will also be honored with a retrospective of his works in the Festival’s Tribute to Program.
One of the boldest projects in the history of Polish animation Kill It and Leave This City, made for 14 years, will open the 20th New Horizons International Film Festival in Wrocław.
