
Oscar-qualifying New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF) announced the complete short film lineup for its 2020 Festival, which runs February 21 to March 15 at theaters throughout New York.

The documentary Saudi Runaway by Susanne Regina Meures has been added to Panorama program lineup of the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival. The documentary film shows a young woman striving for autonomy who flees from Saudi Arabia. She secretly films her claustrophobic everyday life with her smartphone before and during her escape.

The South by Southwes (SXSW) Conference and Festivals announced the second round of films and programs for the 27th edition of the Film Festival, running March 13 to 22, 2020 in Austin, Texas.

HBO Max has acquired U.S. rights to the documentary On The Record following the film’s premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and after Oprah Winfrey’s much public exit from the film.

The Palm Springs International Film Society has announced the dates for the 32nd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival. Festival dates will be Thursday, January 7 through Monday, January 18, 2021.

Princess of the Row by award winning filmmaker Maximilian Carlson will open the eighth edition of the Toronto Black Film Festival – TBFF on Wednesday, February 12 – 7PM at Isabel Bader Theatre. In 2019, Princess of the Row won 19 awards at 20 film festivals: 4 Audience Choice, 5 Best Feature, 6 Best Actress (Tayler Buck), 3 Best Actor (Edi Gathegi) and 1 Best Cinematography (Maz Makhani). The festival will close with the documentary Restless directed by Bernard Attal.

Chinese filmmaker Zheng Lu Xinyuan won the Tiger Award at the 49th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) for her film The Cloud in Her Room. In her personal debut film, shot in black-and-white, filmmaker Zheng Lu Xinyuan follows 22-year-old Muzi as she returns to Hangzhou, where she was born, for the New Year’s celebration. However, it’s like she doesn’t really fit in anywhere.
