  • Austin Film Festival 2019 Adds More Films + WAVES as Centerpiece

    Austin Film Festival 2019 has selected Waves as the fest’s Centerpiece selection on October 28. The Centerpiece screening will include the Texas homecoming for native Trey Edward Shults, whose previous writer- director credits include Krisha and It Comes at Night. Set against the vibrant landscape of South Florida and featuring an astonishing ensemble of award-winning actors and breakouts alike, Waves traces the epic emotional journey of a suburban African-American family— led by a well-intentioned but domineering father—as they navigate love, forgiveness, and coming together in the aftermath of a loss.

The festival will open with highly anticipated new film from Taika Waititi (Boy; What We Do In The Shadows; Thor: Ragnarok), Jojo Rabbit, which stars Waititi alongside Thomasin McKenzie, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, and Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo.

    Renée Zellweger will receive the American Riviera Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in January 2020. Zellweger will be recognized for her many attributes to the art of film over the years, and most recently, her work as Judy Garland in LD Entertainment and Roadside Attractions’ JUDY. The tribute will take place at the historic Arlington Theatre during the 35th Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
