THE IRISHMAN to Open and WAVES will Close 2019 Key West Film Festival
WAVES directed by Trey Edward Shults; and starring Sterling K. Brown, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, and Alexa Demie Martin Scorcese’s critically acclaimed “The Irishman” (Netflix) will open the 2019 Key West Film Festival, and the festival will close with Trey Edward Shults “Waves” (A24). Documentary HEALING FROM HATE to World Premiere at DOC NYC
Members of the National Socialist Movement march down the streets of Columbia, South Carolina to the steps of the State Capital building. April 21, 2007., Columbia, S.C. They rally to protest the “3rd world invasion” of illegal immigrants and the thousands of Mexicans shutting down major cities demonstrating against border reform and their refusal to assimilate into American culture. During the rally, the NSM announced their third party candidate for the upcoming US Presidential election John Taylor Bowles. Bowles is a veteran of the United States Air Force and has been in the NSM for over 30 years. The National Socialist Movement had upwards of 100 supporting members and were met by a vocal crowd of counter protesters. A large police and federal presence kept the event free from incident. Blanchard composed the music for HARRIET, the Closing Night Selection of the festival which tells the story of the renowned abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

The Last Right directed by Aoife Crehan Three more Irish premiere Galas have been added to the 64th Cork Film Festival, which runs from November 7 to 17. The Irish premiere of Feras Fayyad’s gripping film on war-torn Syria The Cave will be featured as the Documentary Gala, the Irish Gala is Aoife Crehan’s comedy-drama debut The Last Right, and the Family Gala is Disney’s long-awaited Frozen 2, ahead of its general release. This brings to five the number of Galas at this year’s festival, with Opening Gala Ordinary Love and Closing Gala The Other Lamb.

Marriage Story The 28th Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) will screen 389 films representing 63 countries, from November 7 to 17. The festival will kick off on Thursday, November 7, with the local premiere of the much-lauded “Marriage Story,” starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, and directed by Noah Baumbach.
