AFI FEST to Honor THE CROWN Creator Peter Morgan and Host Gala Screening
Netflix’s THE CROWN AFI FEST 2019 presented by Audi will host An Evening With Peter Morgan which will include a conversation with Academy Award®-nominated, Emmy Award®-nominated and Golden Globe®-winning writer and producer in tribute to his celebrated career, followed by a Gala screening of the highly anticipated third season of Netflix’s THE CROWN. In attendance alongside Morgan will be season three cast members; Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, Josh O’Connor and Erin Doherty. The event will be held on Saturday, November 16, at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre.

THE IRISHMAN to Open and WAVES will Close 2019 Key West Film Festival
WAVES directed by Trey Edward Shults; and starring Sterling K. Brown, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, and Alexa Demie Martin Scorcese’s critically acclaimed “The Irishman” (Netflix) will open the 2019 Key West Film Festival, and the festival will close with Trey Edward Shults “Waves” (A24). Orlando-based director Stults will appear for a Q&A.

Documentary HEALING FROM HATE to World Premiere at DOC NYC
Members of the National Socialist Movement march down the streets of Columbia, South Carolina to the steps of the State Capital building. April 21, 2007., Columbia, S.C. They rally to protest the “3rd world invasion” of illegal immigrants and the thousands of Mexicans shutting down major cities demonstrating against border reform and their refusal to assimilate into American culture. During the rally, the NSM announced their third party candidate for the upcoming US Presidential election John Taylor Bowles. Bowles is a veteran of the United States Air Force and has been in the NSM for over 30 years. The National Socialist Movement had upwards of 100 supporting members and were met by a vocal crowd of counter protesters. A large police and federal presence kept the event free from incident. (HEALING FROM HATE: BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF A NATION directed by Peter Hutchison) The documentary Healing from Hate: Battle For The Soul Of A Nation, directed by Peter Hutchison and featuring Frankie Meeink, Tony McAleer, Sammy Rangel, Christian Picciolini and Michael Kimmel will have its World Premiere at DOC NYC 2019 in the section: FIGHT THE POWER.

Portrait of a Lady On Fire (PORTRAIT DE LA JEUNE FILLE EN FEU) New Orleans native, 6-time Grammy winner and Academy Award® -nominated composer Terence Blanchard will be presented with a Career Achievement Award at the Closing Night of the 30th New Orleans Film Festival on October 23rd. Blanchard composed the music for HARRIET, the Closing Night Selection of the festival which tells the story of the renowned abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

Jordan, Jamie Foxx The 26th annual Austin Film Festival (AFF) will present Just Mercy as its Closing Night film on October 31, 2019, with screenwriter Andrew Lanham, UT Michener Graduate and 2016 AFF Screenwriter to watch in attendance. Lanham has also been recognized by AFF previously as 2010’s Drama Screenplay Competition winner for The Jumper of Maine.

The Last Right directed by Aoife Crehan Three more Irish premiere Galas have been added to the 64th Cork Film Festival, which runs from November 7 to 17. The Irish premiere of Feras Fayyad’s gripping film on war-torn Syria The Cave will be featured as the Documentary Gala, the Irish Gala is Aoife Crehan’s comedy-drama debut The Last Right, and the Family Gala is Disney’s long-awaited Frozen 2, ahead of its general release. This brings to five the number of Galas at this year’s festival, with Opening Gala Ordinary Love and Closing Gala The Other Lamb.
