
The international documentary film competition of the 2019 Krakow Film Festival will showcase the most electrifying and fascinating stories from all over the world.

Jawline, winner of the Sundance Special Jury Award for Emerging Filmmaker, will open the 2019 CineYouth on Friday, April 26. Directed by Liza Mandelup, Jawline follows 16-year-old Austyn Tester, a rising star in the live-broadcast ecosystem who built his following on wide-eyed optimism and teen girl lust, as he tries to escape a dead-end life in rural Tennessee.

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) in New York City announced the winners of the Golden Apple Awards for the 16th annual event with Bobo Jelčić ’s ALL ALONE winning the BHFF 2019 Golden Apple Jury Award for Best Feature; and Bojan Bodruzić’s THE MUSEUM OF FORGOTTEN TRIUMPHS won the BHFF 2019 Golden Apple Jury Award for Best Documentary. Marta Hernaiz Pidal’s THE CHAOTIC LIFE OF NADA KADIĆ won the BHFF 2019 Golden Apple Audience Award for Best Picture.

Sheryl Crow will perform at the World Premiere of the documentary Linda Ronstadt: The Sound Of My Voice at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival on Friday April 26.

Yang Sun and S. Leo Chiang’s evocative documentary OUR TIME MACHINE released the first trailer ahead of its World Premiere later this month on Sunday, April 28th, at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.

SHOWTIME released a first-look trailer for XY CHELSEA, directed by Tim Travers Hawkins, which will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday, May 1 and premiere on the cable channel on Friday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Executive produced by Academy Award(R) winner Laura Poitras (RISK, Citizenfour), XY CHELSEA tells the historic story of whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, whose 35-year sentence in a maximum security prison was commuted by President Obama in 2017.

A total of eleven Golden Horsemen trophies and three special prizes worth 67,200 euros were awarded at the Awards Ceremony of the 31st Filmfest Dresden with two of the coveted trophies going to the Japanese animation MY LITTLE GOAT by Tomoki Misato. Regional productions were also awarded Golden Horsemen trophies: SEALAND by Till Giermann (Greenhouse Production), which celebrated its world premiere at the Filmfest Dresden, and Anne-Christin Plates’ IKTAMULI (Balance Film), which also received a special mention from the Youth Jury in the National Competition.

Over 200 of the world’s top short comedies have been selected to screen at this year’s 2019 Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival (HCSFF). The highly anticipated CollegeHumor Originals’ series Downbeat produced by Big Breakfast, will open the 4th year with two exclusive episodes. Laugh Factory will once again be presenting the Opening Panel, “The State of the Business: The Explosion of Short Form Comedy.”

The 2019 New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) announced its showcase films for Opening Night, Centerpiece, and Closing Night. NYIFF will open with Sir directed by Rohena Gera and close with The Last Color directed by Vikas Khanna. The Festival will be run May 7th to 12th at the Village East Cinemas in the Lower East Side of Manhattan (181-189 2nd Avenue, New York, NY 10003).

Stanley Nelson’s Miles Davis documentary and an eye-popping expose on the world of competitive dog grooming (scored by Baltimore’s own Dan Deacon) are among the first 10 documentaries selected for the 2019 Maryland Film Festival. The Festival will run Wednesday, May 8 through Sunday, May 12 in Baltimore’s Station North Arts and Entertainment District!

More than 30 years after their golden age, some of the legendary voices of Reggae including Ken Boothe, Winston McAnuff, Kiddus I, and Cedric Myton are back on a World Tour all captured in the new documentary Inna De Yard: The Soul of Jamaica. The film directed by Peter Webber will World Premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival on Monday, April 29. After the Premiere Screening there will be a special performance by reggae legend Ken Boothe.

The Oscar®-qualifying 28th Aspen Shortsfest, announced this year’s Award winners with NEFTA FOOTBALL CLUB, receiving both Audience Award and Jury Award for Comedy, and BROTHERHOOD, honored with The Ellen Award, as well as Jury Award for Drama.
