    The San Francisco Film Society and the New York International Children’s Film Festival present the first NY/SF International Children’s Film Festival, a three-day celebration of diverse, enlightening, inspiring and entertaining films for kids ages 3 – 18 and their families, September 24 – 26 at Landmark’s Embarcadero Center Cinema. NY/SFICFF features short, feature, animated and documentary films from around the world with filmmaker guests in attendance, a special Opening Night party and an interactive director’s workshop.

  • 2010 Tribeca Film Festival Announces Heineken Audience Award Winner – “Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage”

    The ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), announced the winner of The Heineken Audience Award – “RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage”.  The film’s directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn will receive a cash prize of $25,000.

    “RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage” – a mesmerizing music documentary of the legendary Canadian band Rush – made its world premiere at this year’s Festival, capturing the hearts of fans and newcomers.  In the film, directors McFadyen and Dunn embark on a comprehensive exploration of this extraordinary power trio, from their early days in Toronto through each of their landmark albums to the present day.  Audiences were able to sit back and revel in the words, music and wonder of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart.

  • The 13th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival Announces Award Winners

    The 13th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival announces the winners of the five categories of its jury competition: Best First or Second Narrative Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Feature, Best Documentary Short, and Hecho en Tejas.

    The Festival also recognizes the winners of Audience Awards.

  • 2010 Tribeca Film Festival Announces Awards

    The ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival announced the winners of its world competition categories. The world competition winners for narrative and documentary films were chosen from 12 narrative and 12 documentary features from 20 countries. Two awards were given to honor New York films, which were chosen from seven narrative and six documentary features. Awards were also given for the best narrative, best documentary and student visionary films in the short film competitions. This year’s Festival included 85 features and 47 short films from 38 countries.

    Also announced at the awards were the first-ever Tribeca Film Festival Virtual feature and short film winners selected by the online audience,  The winner of The Heineken Audience Award, determined by audience votes throughout the Festival, will be announced on May 1 at the Festival Wrap party.

    Southern California’s wine country will be invaded by film, music and celebrities during the 16th Annual Temecula Valley International Film Festival, September 15-19, 2010. The internationally renowned festival is comprised of more than 150 screenings of features, documentaries and shorts from around the world, a two-day music festival, film and music industry workshops, celebrity studded parties and a marketplace bazaar in the Southern California wine country town of Temecula. Career Achievement Awards will be presented to actor Eric Roberts (THE EXPENDABLES, DARK KNIGHT) for acting, and pop legend Kenny Loggins (FOOTLOOSE, THIS IS IT) for music.   • 2010 Tribeca Film Festival Announces Attendance

    The ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, and presented by Founding Sponsor American Express, today announced a total attendance of over 410,000 at screenings, panels and free community events, including the Drive-In and Street Fair.Theater attendance for the Festival screenings and events reached over 94,000. Screenings were often at capacity, with more than 95% attendance at 396 screenings and panels throughout the 12-day Festival.

    Texas Frightmare Weekend announced the award winners for its companion Texas Frightmare Film Festival at the conclusion of the record breaking convention on Sunday, May 2.

    Taking the jury prize for Best Feature was Nathan Hynes’s and Chris Powers’ LONG PIGS. The film shows the results after two desperate young filmmakers stumble upon their ultimate subject, a 33 year old cannibalistic serial killer, who has agreed to let them document every aspect of his horrifically violent life-style.
