The 2024 Sundance Film Festival announced the 82 films, eight episodic titles, and a New Frontier interactive experience selected the 40th edition of the Festival taking place January 18–28, 2024, in person in Park City and Salt Lake City, with a selection of titles available online nationwide from January 25–28, 2024.

Christopher Nolan will be honored with the first-ever Sundance Institute Trailblazer Award at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival’s fundraiser, Opening Night Gala: Celebrating 40 Years Presented by Chase Sapphire® which will take place on January 18, 2024. Kicking off the 40th edition of the Sundance Film Festival, the evening will also honor Celine Song and Maite Alberdi — both of whom premiered films Past Lives and The Eternal Memory, respectively, at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival — will each receive the annual Vanguard Award Presented by Acura.

Searchlight Pictures acquired Theater Camp, Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman’s feature directorial debut, that premiered at 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The mockumentary stars comedic ensemble Gordon (Shiva Baby, Booksmart), Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect), Noah Galvin (Booksmart), Jimmy Tatro (“American Vandal”), Patti Harrison (Together Together), and Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”).

The Pod Generation directed by Sophie Barthes has been awarded the 2023 Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize and received a $20,000 cash award from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The Prize is selected by a jury of film and science professionals and presented to an outstanding feature film focusing on science or technology as a theme, or depicting a scientist, engineer or mathematician as a major character.

Ahead of the world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, Prime Video has acquired In My Mother’s Skin, the horror fairy tale written and directed by Kenneth Dagatan (Ma).

Director Doug Liman’s first documentary feature Justice will have its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in the Special Screenings section. Justice presents never-before-seen evidence and key interviews with those closely involved in the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

Focus Features debuted the official trailer for Polite Society, the action comedy film starring Priya Kansara, Ritu Arya, Nimra Bucha, Akshay Khanna, Seraphina Beh, and Ella Bruccoleri, set to world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

Marlee Matlin, W. Kamau Bell and Destin Daniel Cretton are among the 16 jurors granting awards for artistic and cinematic excellence at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, including the five jury members who awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Film Prize.

Rounding out the lineup for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the festival revealed the Beyond Film conversations featuring three series called Power of Story, Cinema Café, and The Big Conversation. Beyond Film provides a place for the community to engage through artist conversations, filmmaker panels, and audience discourse. Beyond Film will take place in-person from January 19–23, 2023, with the Beyond Film offerings becoming available to audiences across the country on the online Festival Platform starting January 24, 2023.
