The North American Premiere of Coralie Fargeat’s body horror thriller The Substance, starring Demi Moore will open the Midnight Madness lineup for 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

24 titles, with 20 World Premieres, are set for the 2024 Discovery program lineup at the Toronto International Film Festival in which audiences will uncover hidden cinematic gems from around the globe. The Discovery program premieres debut and sophomore films from emerging filmmakers, showcasing the best of contemporary international cinema.

A24 revealed the trailer for ‘We Live in Time’, the romantic-comedy drama film starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. From Academy Award nominated director of ‘Brooklyn’, John Crowley, the film tells a decade-spanning romance story of a couple played by Pugh and Garfield.

Actress and producer Cate Blanchett will be honored at the 2024 TIFF Tribute Awards as the recipient of the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award. Blanchett will also participate in an In Conversation With… event, offering audiences an intimate look into the two-time Academy Award winner’s illustrious career. The 49th Toronto International Film Festival takes place September 5–15, 2024.

With the festival fast approaching, Cameron Bailey, CEO, TIFF, announced the first honorees of this year’s Tribute Awards: Oscar-nominated actor Amy Adams, who will receive the TIFF Tribute Performer Award; and iconic Canadian filmmaker and screenwriter David Cronenberg, who will be recognized with the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award. Sandra Oh, the award-winning Korean Canadian actor and producer, will serve as the inaugural Tribute Awards Honorary Chair.

American Fiction directed by Cord Jefferson took the TIFF 2023 People’s Choice Award at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival which concluded on Saturday with the Closing Night screening of Thom Zimny’s Sly.
