Magnolia Pictures announced they have acquired North American rights to JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI, a documentary about the life and work of master sushi chef Jiro Ono. The directorial debut of David Gelb, JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI had its world premiere at the Berlinale, and makes its North American premiere this Thursday, April 21st, at the Tribeca Film Festival. Magnolia is planning a theatrical release for the film later this year.

The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), announced its jurors – a diverse and talented group of 38 individuals, including award-winning filmmakers and screenwriters, celebrated actors, respected journalists and media pioneers. They will be divided among the six competitive Festival categories and will announce the winning films, filmmakers and actors in those categories at the TFF Awards Night ceremony on April 28 hosted by Gideon Yago, which will be streamed live on TribecaFilm.com. The 2011 Festival runs from April 20 – May 1.

The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) has added two more films to its feature lineup: a world premiere of Tony Kaye’s drama Detachment and a work-in-progress screening of Stephen C. Mitchell’s Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon. The 10th edition of the Festival will take place from April 20 to May 1 in lower Manhattan, New York.
The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) will close with the world premiere of Edward Burns’ Newlyweds on Saturday, April 30, at BMCC TPAC.
Newlyweds is the tenth film written and directed by Ed Burns and the sixth to premiere at TFF. Burns, who wrote, directed and stars in Newlyweds, has had a strong connection with TFF since its founding. Ash Wednesday world premiered as part of the inaugural TFF lineup in 2002, and Looking for Kitty, Purple Violets and Nice Guy Johnny have also been Festival premieres over subsequent years.

The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), is bringing back its free community events: the Tribeca Drive-In (April 21-23), Family Festival Street Fair (April 30), Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day (April 30), and free panel series, “Tribeca Talks: Pen to Paper” and “Tribeca Talks: Industry” (April 23-30).
For the first time this year, Festival-goers, athletes and the general public will also have the opportunity to partake in the new NYFest (April 23), the city’s first Film and Entertainment Soccer Tournament
The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) announced its lineup for the 2011 Special Events and Tribeca Talks® panel series. The component programs are “Tribeca Talks: After the Movie,” “Tribeca Talks: Industry,” “Tribeca Talks: Pen to Paper, hosted by Barnes & Noble,” the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival panel, and new this year, in celebration of the tenth Festival, the “Tribeca Talks: Directors Series,” featuring one-on-one conversations with acclaimed filmmakers, plus the premiere of five new documentary films and a one-of-a-kind videogame-film event.

The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) unveiled the Tribeca (Online) Film Festival, which will allow US audiences to view feature and short films for free and worldwide audiences to engage with filmmakers and industry experts as TFF’s 10th edition runs concurrently in lower Manhattan from April 20 to May 1, 2011.
The multi-dimensional experience features five areas – Festival Streaming Room, Live From…, Tribeca Q&A, Filmmaker Feed, and the Future of Film blog.
The 2011 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), today announced its lineup of 60 short films, 22 of which are world premieres.
Also new this year, the recipient of the TFF Best Narrative Short award will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the annual Academy Awards®.
