The Venice International Film Festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia. The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. The Festival also organizes retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.

Award-winning creative studio ScanLAB Projects will World Premiere the immersive art installation, FRAMERATE: Pulse of the Earth, as part of the prestigious Venice Immersive section at La Biennale di Venezia’s Venice International Film Festival 2022.

Director, writer and producer Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hrs., Last Man Standing) is the recipient of the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award of the 79th Venice International Film Festival. The award is dedicated to a personality who has made a particularly original contribution to the contemporary film industry.

The virtual reality production Gumball Dreams from the award-winning VR production company Ferryman Collective and Screaming Color, will make its international premiere as an Official Selection of the 79th Venice International Film Festival. Venice International Film Festival unveiled the selection of projects for Venice Immersive, the XR – Extended Reality section of the 79th edition of the festival. Benjamin and Lars Edinger is the Opening Film, in Competition, of the 79th Venice International Film Festival (August 31 – September 10, 2022). This is Baumbach’s return to the Lido; he premiered Marriage Story at the festival in 2019.

The Venice Classics section returns to the 79th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia, following two years in which, due to the pandemic, it was hosted in Bologna by the Il cinema ritrovato festival (August 2020), and held last year in the historic city centre of Venice.

Actress Julianne Moore will be the president of the International Jury of the Competition at the 79th Venice International Film Festival (August 31 – September 10, 2022), which will assign the Golden Lion for Best Film, as well as other official awards.
